Pride and Prejudice

This book is a novel written by the British female novelist Jane Austen. The novel describes the little squire Bennet's five daughters who are waiting for marriage. Mrs. Bennet worries about finding future husbands for her daughters all day long. Through the different ways in which Bennet's five daughters handle marriage matters, it shows the different attitudes of the rural middle class towards marriage and love. It also reflects the author's own view on marriage: it is wrong to marry for property, money and status. Austin emphasized the importance of an ideal marriage and believed that the feelings of both men and women should be the cornerstone of an ideal marriage. The novel uses daily life as the material. It goes against the content of sentimental novels and artificial writing methods that were popular in the society at that time. It describes the life and human conditions of the British countryside in a conservative and closed state from the end of the 18th century to the beginning of the 19th century. It has been adapted into movies and TV series many times.
