In the dead of night, Xu Ruoyu woke from another nightmare.
Cold sweat dampened her bangs, and her heart raced with panic. In the dim room, only the neon lights outside flickered across the walls. This dream had been unusually vivid: she could even feel the short blade clenched in her palm. Time twisted and warped within the dream. Countless images of herself flickered all around her, then finally collapsed into endless nothingness.
“...A dream of nothingness...”
She murmured unconsciously, her voice still trembling.
These nightmares had long since become part of her life. Unlike ordinary dreams, they didn't fade when she woke. Instead, they felt like marks carved deep into her soul, weighing heavily on her heart. Curled up on the wide bed, her slender figure looked especially fragile.
“Another nightmare?”
Her older brother, Xu Huaijin, called sleepily from outside the door.
“I'm fine. Go back to bed.”
She answered softly, trying to keep her voice calm. The hallway fell quiet, but she knew her brother was still there. The college student, who was always imagining himself as a superhero, was especially attentive when it came to her.
She lay back down, but sleep was nowhere to be found. The dream had been so real it frightened her, as if it weren't an ordinary nightmare at all, but another world peering through a crack to reveal the truth it concealed...
It's okay, that's it
