The Prodigal Returns

I'm a disgrace to society. I've let my parents down. I'm trash. I don't deserve to be called human.

Those were the exact words I was forced to say.

Everyone in the village believes only a boy can support his parents in their old age.

Girls are supposed to be married off to another family as early as possible.

So my sister was sent away as soon as she came of age. Mom said it was to save money for my future wife.

My younger sister complains every day that there's too much housework.

But what does any of that have to do with me?

I'm the boy my family waited so long for, after all.
