The Pursuit

Three years ago, Peng Shuai joined the Yuancheng Criminal Police Force as a detective after earning excellent grades. Working alongside veteran detective Song Yugang, he cracked one bizarre case after another and was hailed as the force's rising star. But when he arrived at the scene of an artifact-smuggling case reported by the public, Peng Shuai was surprised to find that it bore a striking resemblance to the Dragon Heist case from ten years earlier. Old Song didn't want to stir up trouble and secretly tried to stop Peng Shuai from investigating further.

Peng Shuai's father had been sentenced to death ten years earlier for embezzlement in the Dragon Heist case. To uncover the truth, Peng Shuai and Song Xiu struck out on their own and launched a secret investigation. As they solved a series of artifact thefts, including the smuggling of a beast-head agate cup and the theft of the Jin Duke's ritual basin, Peng Shuai found himself caught in an even larger web of intrigue. Who was behind the Dragon Heist, and was the truth that was gradually coming to light really just about artifact smuggling?
