A historical fanfic based on NetEase's mobile game Infinite Lagrange.
I'm sure many pioneers, like me, are fascinated by the game's vast cosmic worldbuilding and rich, open-ended storylines, even when we're not playing. However, the official lore related to the game is neither systematic nor comprehensive. So, drawing on the game background material I was able to collect, I've written an original historical space opera.
The first part, A Ballad for a Lonely Star, mainly introduces the struggles for power surrounding the battle for the stargate in the Clock constellation's 136th star system. The main players are the Holy Star Empire, the Pons family, and the Earth-Proxima Centauri economic bloc. Through the perspectives of original characters, I'll use this story to explore the origins and consequences of the conflicts between interstellar expansionists and isolationist protectionists, between the ideology of expanding across the stars and Earth-centered thinking, and among the other factions.
