Ten thousand years ago, after the gods and demons fell in battle, their remains landed here. The terrain resembled a crane, so the place came to be known as Crane City. The divine clansmen who had fought alongside them did not want to return to the Immortal Realm, so they went into hiding here. Over time, spiritual energy filled the area. With vast stretches of primeval forest, all kinds of beasts absorbed this energy, cultivated, and became demon beasts. Those who cultivated to a high level could take human form. Beasts, too, were divided into good and evil: the good cultivated the Dao, while the evil cultivated demonic power.
Humans who cultivated were known as mystics. Once they reached a certain level, they could become immortals.
