Synopsis: Ji Yi was a little weed growing on Kunlun Mountain. When the Western Queen Mother's beloved pet pig mysteriously died in front of her, the grieving queen breathed a wisp of immortal energy into Ji Yi, bringing her to life. She named her Yizhu, meaning "Remember the Pig" (though after losing her memory, Ji Yi refuses to admit it!), to commemorate her poor pet pig.
One day, the Western Queen Mother took Yizhu to a banquet in the Heavenly Court. Yizhu drank too much and tangled up a whole pile of the God of Marriage's red threads. The Western Queen Mother dumped her in the mortal realm to straighten out the tangled marriage threads, according to Yanshan. The divine beast Yanshan was implicated, so he was thrown down to the mortal realm with her. (Ji Yi felt that something about this sounded strange, but she couldn't remember what. According to Yanshan, once they straightened out the marriage threads, she could regain her memories and return to Kunlun Mountain.)
