The Navel of the Earth

A new work is out! Welcome to read my story on Tomato Novel. Su Qianqian, a postdoctoral researcher in nuclear engineering who grew up in the underground city of Songjiang, the Magic Capital, never imagined that studying a kitten untouched by nuclear contamination would completely change the course of her life. While chasing the adorable little calico, Su Qianqian ventured onto the winter plains contaminated by nuclear fallout, a place she had never set foot in before. She followed the cat all the way there, only to accidentally fall into a pit 88 meters deep. Su Qianqian was rescued by Old Cheng, the former gardener at the Pit Hotel. Mistaking him for a predator, she knocked him out, then learned about the spring water in the pit’s cliff face. She guessed that the pit on the Songjiang Plain might be the legendary Navel of the Earth. An old tale about the Fountain of Origin had been passed down in the underground city: find the Navel of the Earth, said to be Mother Earth’s belly button and the source of life, and its waters could help humanity be reborn from the nuclear wasteland.

After escaping the pit, all Su Qianqian wanted was to return home to the Songjiang underground city and get a good night’s sleep. But things did not go as planned. Along the way, she encountered one unbelievable, worldview-shattering event after another, witnessing humanity’s ignorance, foolishness, ugliness, selfishness, and cruelty. The wicked opened the gates of hell, the greedy salivated, and the foolish turned savage. As one bloody battle after another erupted, Su Qianqian gradually uncovered the truth, yet remained in a constant state of war... Through a succession of bloody conflicts, she fought side by side with Dongfang Sui, an Ice Star guardian of civilization. They grew stronger in battle, came to understand one another, and fell in love, beginning a beautiful romance that crossed time, planets, and species.
