About the author
Zhang Yun, Ph. D. In history, is director of the Institute of History of the China Tibetan Studies Research Center, a second-level researcher, and a doctoral supervisor. He is a national-level candidate for the "New Century Talents Project" and enjoys special government allowances from the State Council. He is an expert on the Ethnic Issues Planning Review Team of the National Social Science Fund, a director of the China Tibetan Culture Protection and Development Association, and an executive director of the National Council of the China Human Rights Research Association. He has presided over a number of National Social Science Foundation projects and published 10 academic monographs such as "Ancient Tibet and Persian Civilization", "Study on the History of Tubo in the Tang Dynasty", "Study on the Local Administrative System of Tubo in the Yuan Dynasty", "Study on the Tibetan Governance System of the Central Government of the Yuan Dynasty", "Study on Historical Issues in Tibet", "Border Affairs and Border Officials in Tibet in the Past Dynasties", more than 100 academic papers, and many translations (parts) in Russian, English, Tibetan and other languages. He serves as the executive chief editor of the 8-volume "General History of Tibet", a major national scientific research project, and the co-editor of the "Early Volume", "Tubo Volume", "Yuan Dynasty Volume" and "Contemporary Volume" of the "General History of Tibet".
