Introduction
This book is the first in-depth ethnographic study of community policing in the UK since its establishment in 2002. Based on the tradition of police ethnography, this book investigates the working conditions of uniformed patrol police officers in two British police teams. Based on more than 350 hours of direct observation and 33 interviews with community police officers and urban and rural patrol officers, this book provides a detailed analysis of the current situation of diverse police work and culture from within the police agency.
