(PS: The main couple in this book is Ice Princess and Yan Jue. Other couples are not fixed.)
Faced with Yan Jue's confession, Ice Princess should have been delighted, but instead her heart fills with bitterness. She will disappear before long, so perhaps she should not be with him after all.
Hearing the woman he loves reject him, Yan Jue, usually composed and courteous, feels as if all the strength has drained from his body, leaving him aching from head to toe, all the way to his heart.
His arms fall limply to his sides, yet a smile curls his lips. "It's all right. I was only joking with you just now. I hope we can still be friends."
After Yan Jue leaves, the already frail Ice Princess can no longer hold on and collapses to the ground. As her consciousness grows hazy, she seems to see the man who has always cherished her, gentle as a clear breeze beneath a bright moon, walking toward her with a beautiful bouquet in his hands.
Ice Princess reaches out with all her strength, wanting to touch his face and engrave his features in her mind, but her eyelids grow heavier and heavier.
"Goodbye, Yan Jue. We were never meant to be together in this life. I only hope that in the next..."
"Yan Jue, forget me. Live well."
