The protagonist has his own system of growth, but for certain reasons it will also become connected to the Hokage system.
Also, because of the butterfly effect, I'm not sure whether the later story will follow the original. After all, the plot had already started changing after just a few chapters. Still, I think following the original might make the later parts boring, so I haven't changed course. I hope you enjoy it.
