This book is a comprehensive study of the economic and social history of overseas Chinese in Africa. It explains the background, methodology and current analysis of the history of overseas Chinese in Africa, as well as an overview of the history of China-Africa relations. In chronological order, it discusses the socio-economic evolution of overseas Chinese in Africa from ancient times to the Revolution of 1911, the Republic of China, and from 1949 to 2018. On this basis, theoretical issues such as the definition, role and classification of new immigrants, as well as the impact of overseas Chinese on African society are discussed.

This book is very interesting! It tells the history of the Chinese in Africa in detail and gave me a deeper understanding of their socio-economic development. However, I kind of disliked some of the characters in the book and wished they were more three-dimensional. The overall plot of the story is very attractive and makes me want to keep reading. Recommended to friends who are interested in China-Africa relations!
