This book is a monograph on the comprehensive study of the economic and social history of overseas Chinese in Africa. It explains the background, methodology and current situation analysis of the research on the history of overseas Chinese in Africa, as well as an overview of the history of China-Africa relations. In chronological order, it discusses the socio-economic evolution of overseas Chinese in Africa from ancient times to the Revolution of 1911, the Republic of China, and from 1949 to 2016. On this basis, theoretical issues such as the definition, role and classification of new immigrants, as well as the impact of overseas Chinese on African society are discussed.

This book is really good! It details the socio-economic history of the Chinese in Africa and gave me a deeper understanding of their struggles and contributions. I especially like the part about new immigrants in the book, which allows me to see the power of human migration and integration. However, I kind of hate the characters who have historically discriminated against Chinese people, and their behavior is really irritating. Overall, this is a great book worth reading!
