Zhang Xiaoye, an investigator for the Foundation, unexpectedly acquires a rune, a Runic Mark, during an environmental survey. While later investigating the “Dead Sea,” he experiences a series of bizarre events. After learning about the “God Awakening Project” and discovering that the Foundation has cast him aside, he accepts a request from Wilson Reeves and sets out to release the “Primordial Runes.”
