Know This: The Hidden Physician's Tale of a Concubine's Daughter

Spring breezes never reach the Jade Gate Pass; slanting rain and wind bring a chill to dawn.

Pear blossoms fall along the road to the ends of the earth; once spring is gone, beauty withers.

Alone in a small tower, she stands amid the gentle breeze; deep into the night, her sorrowful thoughts are still fresh as ink.

The bright moon hangs high as she remembers an old friend; how much sorrow lies across a thousand miles of rivers and mountains?

Tear stains dampen her silk robes; emerald ornaments sway deep within the painted hall.

The red candle dims, its light fading; the night is long, all is still, and dreams are hard to find.
