The Wu Brothers: Brave Generals Against the Jin

In 1127 AD, the Jingkang Incident struck the Northern Song Dynasty. The Jin captured the Emperor Huizong and Emperor Qinzong and took them north, bringing the Northern Song to an end. All the lands north of the Qinling Mountains and the Huai River fell under Jin control. Prince Kang, Zhao Gou, declared himself emperor in Lin'an and founded the Southern Song, which held only half the empire. Determined to conquer the Southern Song, the Jin first tried and failed to cross the Huai River and seize the lands south of the Yangtze. They then changed tactics, hoping to take Bashu and sail down the Yangtze to capture the south. But the Southern Song's famed generals Wu Jie and Wu Lin, stationed in Shaanxi and Gansu, along with Wu Gong and Wu Ting, their sons, blocked them for decades. The Jin never managed to enter Bashu. Their resistance secured the Southern Song Dynasty's survival and earned them undying glory. This book tells the stirring story of three generations of the Wu family as they fought the Jin armies during this era.
