Psychology of Sexuality

Pan's translation of "Psychology of Sexuality" has several major features: 1. The translation is in the Republican style, and the sentences are read in an orderly manner, giving it a unique flavor. 2. Mr. Pan is knowledgeable, and his translation and annotations are well-referenced. This is an "academic" monograph from the West, rooted in the European cultural context, with a large number of ancient Chinese literature and materials. Some of these materials come from Chinese classics, and some come from notebook novels, which are extensive and detailed. All the literature and Ellis's original work mutually confirm that "sex" is a topic most closely related to human survival and reproduction. Whether Europeans, Asians, "advanced" Britain, or traditional ancient China, people all have the same characteristics and needs, and they all need to face this and understand it scientifically and objectively. With the advancement of civilization, today's society is more objective and open about the topic of "sex", and is more tolerant of "sexual anomalies". However, the popularization of scientific knowledge of "sex" is still a long and arduous task. This work, written 80 years ago, will still be of great inspiration to contemporary people even if read today. The book not only introduces the common sense of sexual psychology, but also explains the abnormality of sexual psychology, and even the conclusion of "reproductive conditions" mentioned by Ellis in the book. It also looks at the current fertility forms and the fertility concepts of a generation, and it seems to provide many new perspectives for thinking. Whether it is Ellis's original work or Mr. Pan's translation, they are both rare classics. In the process of publishing the manuscript, the editor referred to multiple versions of the original work and translations, trying to restore the classics to the greatest extent possible. At the same time, the new version has also kept pace with the times. For the names of a large number of experts and scholars mentioned in the book, we made slight adjustments after referring to the current common translation methods in psychology and medicine. I would like to point it out here and pay tribute to our predecessors.
