The Prefect’s Beloved Wife

One day, Su Mi called out to a handsome scholar passing by, “Hey, pretty boy! Give me a smile, big brother.” For that, her father beat her with twenty strokes of the rod. Grinding her back teeth, Su Mi said, “Pretty boy, I'll remember this. You'll pay for it!” Gu Yanchu came first in the imperial examinations and was personally appointed prefect of Qinzhou by the emperor. He happily set off to take up his post. But the moment he entered Qinzhou, before he'd even assumed office, a female soldier with a rough-and-ready streak started flirting with him. Gu Yanchu said, “Miss, I may not be much, but I want to spend my whole life making you smile.”
