Cyberpunk Apocalypse

What will the future be like? A utopian world of prosperity, equality, and freedom from oppression? Or a cyberpunk world where the gap between rich and poor keeps widening and humanity is oppressed at every turn? The world’s turning point came with the Third World War. Advances in cybernetic technology and the rise of neural tech accelerated the world’s transformation into a cyberpunk dystopia. Meanwhile, the collapse of the United States and the government’s incompetence left the megacorporations holding all the real power. Fueled by technological progress, ambitious corporations were poised to strike, each scheming to carry out a world-shaking plan of its own in an attempt to control the entire world. In this environment, an eighteen-year-old boy stood on streets riddled with filth, darkness, and danger, gazing up at the elites in the skyscrapers. A voice kept echoing in his mind. “They took everything from you. Aren’t you going to get revenge?” The boy remained silent. He didn’t know what hatred was supposed to feel like, but somehow he felt he ought to do it. “They’re always like this. They treat us as tools, then throw us away when they’re done, without a trace of gratitude. Let’s join forces and topple this world ruled by arrogant humans, and build a utopia free of oppression.” At last, the boy spoke. “Are you sure it’s okay for an AI to say all that?”
