Xu Qingye was a notorious troublemaker. His family was poor, and aside from his handsome face, he had nothing going for him.
Si Chun came from a wealthy family. She was a good student and the obedient girl everyone admired.
Xu Qingye hated sheltered little white flowers like Si Chun, who knew nothing of life's harsh realities. He never thought they would have anything to do with each other, but he never expected to be drawn to her.
On the eve of Si Chun's birthday, the two sat on the rooftop, letting the breeze wash over them.
Si Chun looked at him, her smile as clear and bright as moonlight. "Tomorrow is my birthday. Would you celebrate it with me?"
"Sure."
Xu Qingye nodded, but the next day he vanished without a trace.
They met again eight years later. It was Si Chun's birthday.
After dinner, Si Chun saw her fiance entangled with her half-sister. With a self-mocking smile, she prepared to leave.
That was when Xu Qingye appeared. He stubbed out his cigarette and walked toward her with a bouquet in his hands, half his face swallowed by darkness.
