A Study of the Wuyue Kingdom and the Qian Clan of Wuyue

This book is divided into five parts. The introduction reviews the state of research over the past twenty years on the Wuyue Kingdom and the Qian family of Wuyue.

The military section discusses the importance of Huzhou, Suzhou, and Fuzhou to the Wuyue Kingdom's land frontiers during the Five Dynasties, as well as the kingdom's defense strategies for these three regions.

The documents section dates the poems and prose of Qian Liu, King Wusu of Wuyue; reviews the writings of the Zhongxun Prince branch of the Qian family during the Wuyue and Song dynasties; and examines the surviving and excavated funerary inscriptions of the Qian family from those periods.

The biography section first links together the genealogies of the Qian family during the Wuyue and Song dynasties based on reliable historical sources, then dates the biographical records of Qian Weiyan, a descendant of the Qian family and a Privy Councilor of the Northern Song.

The book concludes with a bibliography of works on the Wuyue Kingdom and the Qian family of Wuyue published over the past century.
