When I was young, my rebellious streak led me to marry early against my family's wishes. My grandmother came from the Miao borderlands and was a famous "witch" in the surrounding villages. The people there were all skilled in gu poison. Those afflicted would either fall gravely ill or die on the spot. At the end of darkness lies the light, and gu poison can both harm and heal.
I fled to the Magic City, where I spent my days working and searching for a way to break the curse.
Then one day, I met the light of my life, Duan Jiashu.
We met, fell in love, and got married.
When Duan Jiashu learned that his wife had been cursed with gu poison, he searched the entire Magic City and brought the whole Miao borderlands to heel, determined to find the person who had cursed her.
