Why Am I Never Human?

Lin Shu had only stopped at a barbecue stall for a moment. Why did everything go black, and why was he suddenly in a pitch-black place?

World One: So the black box is a phone. How did I get so small? I’m inside the phone! Oh well, at least the phone’s owner will feed me.

World Two: Huh? Why have I changed again? This long string of round beads is an abacus. I may be bad at mental math, but my owner is great at it. Could you use the abacus a little more gently, though?

World Three: Why am I not human again? What’s a mask supposed to do? Hey! Are you really going to stick it on this close?

After living through several lifetimes, Lin Shu finally can’t take it anymore and screams, “Why am I never human?”

The man who has always followed him hugs Lin Shu. “It’s okay. No matter what you turn into, I’ll stay by your side.”
