Synopsis: Cultivation, a male lead bullied early on, a naive and sweet female lead early on who grows powerful later, a heartbreaking romance involving a torn-out heart, a blood feud, mutual chastity, and a happy ending.
Liang Chen struggles to survive in the scheming Silent Sound Valley. Though exceptionally gifted and good-natured, he is bullied and hunted by the female disciples for being different, driving him to resolve to grow stronger. But his master, Han Meng, is merely a mortal chef who looks after him. Fortunately, Han Meng bribes the Old Lord with roast chicken and wine, allowing Liang Chen to awaken Light and Fire heavenly spiritual roots.
During a trial in the snowy mountains, Liang Chen reveals his true strength to protect Ge Xuan and Lü Leling. Ge Xuan, however, informs the master of Silent Sound Valley, who punishes him by making him study the musical scores and forbidding him from returning to the Music Pavilion. Later, the master’s temperament changes completely, and he orders the disciples to hunt demons and spirit beasts in droves for their heart’s blood. Ge Xuan captures a spirit beast of the same kind as Liang Chen’s contracted familiar. Liang Chen and Ao Ge go to rescue it, incurring the master’s wrath. Han Meng helps them escape but is captured himself.
After becoming a Soul Ferryman, Liang Chen travels to Peach Blossom Village to help with disaster relief. There he meets Meng Chen, kindhearted and innocent, though she seems a little foolish. She brings Liang Chen warmth and courage. Yet a blood feud lies between them: Liang Chen’s father tore out Meng Chen’s heart, leaving her foolish. Meng Chen is a spirit who has lived for ten thousand years. Though immortal, she has no heart and only incomplete magical powers, and suffers terrible pain every full moon. Liang Chen’s heart, which contains immense power, is not only Meng Chen’s hope for liberation, but also coveted by the master of Thousand Snow Pavilion.
In this love story that crosses the boundaries of hatred and prejudice, Liang Chen and Meng Chen are very different in temperament. Brought together by fate, they face life and death side by side, while the mystery of their origins hangs over them. Liang Chen’s pain at having his heart torn out and Meng Chen’s fire of revenge bring their love to a climax. Can they overcome every obstacle and find their happy ending?
The description in my heart is perfect. The Madman Valley Master goes from being gentle, considerate and kind to paranoid, bloodthirsty, and cruel. Why do good people turn into terrible villains? Personally, I think the novel is really good if you look at the supporting characters, 🤭
