On August 24, 2023, ten years before the apocalypse, a country called Japan, ignoring fierce opposition from the entire world, insisted on dumping nuclear-contaminated water into the ocean.
This outrageous act provoked the wrath of Heaven and the fury of the people. After the contaminated water was released into the sea, earthquakes and tsunamis struck the waters near Japan with increasing frequency. At last, ten years later, Japan paid the price for its evil deeds.
At noon on August 24, 2033, an inactive virus deep in the ocean was shaken loose by an earthquake. Under the influence of radioactive materials, it was activated. The virus released a purple fog that spread across the globe, and a disaster that engulfed the world unfolded across the entire planet.
After the purple fog shrouded the Earth for seven full days, people awoke to find that the world had changed. Ninety percent of humanity had died from the virus and radiation because of their physical constitutions. Only ten percent had endured the trials of the virus and nuclear radiation and survived.
People in later generations called this calamity the Apocalypse Calamity! August 24, 2034, was named the first year of the apocalypse by the survivors who came after!
