Snow Falls Over Huahua City

Ten years ago, the Han family was framed by the Su family and met with ruin. The Han father and son fled to the capital in search of a way forward. After a series of twists and turns, they happened upon the only son of the powerful Shangguan family and saved his life.

The Shangguan family treated them like close kin, even changing their surnames and names and entering them into the Shangguan family genealogy.

In the 251st year of the Jing era, the emperor fell gravely ill, and the dynasty seemed poised for upheaval and a change of era name. The Shangguan matriarch moved the family's wealth and influence to the remote city of Yuzhou.

Thus began their ten-year path of patience and revenge.

Yet Shangguan Jinsheng fell in love with someone she should never have loved. The day they met, in Yuzhou in the south, the first snow arrived late, just as the plum blossoms bloomed early. The wind sent petals from the blossoms that had opened the day before drifting across the entire city. The first snow seemed to wash the dust from the plum blossoms, or perhaps the falling petals were simply there to set off the snow. It was both beautiful and heartbreaking.

Han Chenyu loved Su Miaomiao, while Shangguan Jinsheng fell in love with Ning Xueyan. A new love turned out to be an old one.

If there is another life, may we not continue this bond. May we pass each other as strangers, our shoulders brushing in a bustling street.

For all the sweetness of another life, it cannot make up for even a fraction of the bitterness of this one.
