Utopia

Thomas More's masterpiece "Utopia" was written in Latin in 1516 and translated into English in 1551. "Utopia" means "nowhere" and is an imaginary island. This "Utopia Island" is 500 miles long and 200 miles wide, and is shaped like a crescent. The culture and education of the islanders are far superior to those in all other areas. People are carefree, equal, and have freedom of belief. There is no exploitation or oppression. Everyone only needs to complete equal labor and share property. The highest form of democracy achieved in "Utopia" is the island-wide assemblies and assemblies. There are almost no laws in "Utopia" and there are no lawyers. People take care of their own lawsuits and judges make appropriate decisions. Thomas More designed a complete "utopian" social blueprint on the basis of criticizing the darkness of society and the evils of primitive accumulation of capital. He gave a reasonable and systematic explanation of the premise and connotation of "public ownership", breaking through the constraints of the feudal monarchy political model and the Christian "divine right of kings" political ideal. It contained the political consciousness of freedom, democracy, and equality in modern times, and had an important influence on the subsequent development of utopian socialist theory and the birth of scientific socialist theory.
