May You Be Safe and Sound

[“Gentle and Perceptive” Traveler VS “Warm and Refined” Senior]

Power Couple / Healing / High Stakes / System / Growth / Infinite Flow / Omniscient Perspective

A clear-headed, rational heroine who is no fool VS a devoted, loyal hero with eyes only for her

The story is long, and the writing takes its time. Its focus is the gentle, gradual comfort of a healing story.

It is companionship.

The girl watched calmly, and was just about to turn and leave when darkness fell over her eyes and warmth touched her skin.

A sigh sounded beside her ear: “I’m late.”

The girl paused, reached up to remove the warm hand, then turned to look at the newcomer. “Late?”

The newcomer gave a soft affirmative, then ruefully brushed a hand over the corner of the girl’s eye. “I let you see something you shouldn’t have.”

It is regret.

“The leaves have fallen.”

She stood by the window, murmuring softly.

Outside, the ginkgo swayed in the breeze, which swept past and sent the withered yellow leaves fluttering down.

The woman beside her watched, concealing the complicated feelings in her eyes. After a long pause, she replied softly, “There will be more next year.”

She paused. After a long while, she said, “Next year…”

Her voice was faint and light, sounding like a sigh, barely audible.

It is redemption.

…

“Life is full of unforeseen changes; nothing lasts forever. Even the Heavenly Dao, which claims to stand above all worlds, has no right to interfere with how a world runs.”

“Just like their story: once it begins, right or wrong, there is no turning back.”
