The plot itself has limited appeal, but the exploration of "possibilities" is very interesting. The author throws out all possibilities and then denies them one by one. This purely logical and rational way of writing is very much in line with Van Dyne's personal taste.

The plot of this book has ups and downs and suspense, which made me feel like I was at the scene of the crime. The description of the characters in the book is also very delicate. Detailed descriptions such as "Vance sat on the chair in front of the window, exactly facing the wicker chair where Benson was sitting when he was killed" gave me a deeper understanding of the character. And through the wonderful reasoning in the book, I also learned a lot of techniques for solving crimes! Looking forward to Van Dyne's next work~

Van Dyne's reasoning is not so much that of early Quine, but rather that of early Granny. His reasoning about mental evidence is far greater than physical evidence.

Not bad, the suspense creation is retained until the end, and the concise and clear sentences are also Van Dyne's consistent writing style.
