[Marriage first, love later + wealthy families + two couples] The illegitimate daughter who usurped another’s place is dumped by the Gu family, Beicheng’s most powerful clan. Their reason? They’ll only accept Jiang family’s one and only heiress. He Weiyi is first forced to marry Gu Huaizhi in the illegitimate daughter’s place, then treated by Gu Huaizhi as a stand-in for his unattainable first love. Fine, fine. He Weiyi has mastered the art of being a stand-in, but with the enormous responsibility entrusted to her by Grandma Gu, she can’t let this windfall slip away.
One night, Gu Huaizhi pins He Weiyi down. “He Weiyi, what are you after?”
He Weiyi’s eyes dart around. “I only want true love. Grandma says she wants a grandchild. You’re not impotent, are you?”
Gu Huaizhi: “Want to find out?”
Everyone in Beicheng is betting on when Gu Huaizhi will divorce He Weiyi. But then He Weiyi suddenly disappears, and Gu Huaizhi frantically turns Beicheng upside down looking for her.
The flowers of Beicheng bloom twice. At a banquet, Gu Huaizhi pins He Weiyi against the wall, his eyes red. “Didn’t you say all you wanted was true love? Why leave me all alone...”
