Siheyuan: Starting in 1952 with Heaven-Defying Comprehension

He Siyu transmigrates to the capital and becomes Silly Zhu’s nephew. He demonstrates an astonishing ability to read quickly and comprehend what he reads. After finishing a thousand books, he activates the God-Tier Reading System. He chooses a wuxia novel and gains the Tan Family Leg technique. He uses his new skill to deal with two thieves and is praised by the police for his bravery in helping others. The police chief personally receives He Siyu. By now it is late, and the people in the courtyard are frantic as they search for him, but He Yuzhu calmly cracks sunflower seeds. A police officer brings He Siyu back to the courtyard, causing everyone to misunderstand the situation. Yan Bugui suggests holding a courtyard-wide meeting to criticize He Siyu. At the meeting, He Yuzhu stands up for He Siyu, who says he will face whatever comes on his own. Liu Haizhong and Yan Bugui criticize He Siyu and accuse He Yuzhu of failing to raise the boy properly. Enraged, they try to hit He Siyu. Yan Bugui demands to know why He Siyu was taken to the police station. Officer Zhong Baoguo clarifies that He Siyu did nothing wrong. In fact, he is to receive public recognition for his bravery. Liu Haizhong and Yan Bugui are left thoroughly ashamed. He Siyu obtains an advanced cookbook and unlocks the System’s cataloguing function, but only high-quality books can be added. In three days, He Siyu masters the Tan family recipes, leaving He Yuzhu astonished. He Siyu bets He Yuzhu that they’ll settle who’s the better cook with the dish Phoenix Stewed with Mushrooms. He asks He Yuzhu to find out whether the factory can put him in charge of purchasing chicken, duck, and eggs, but He Yuzhu worries that this would count as profiteering.
