Willing to Be a Substitute

[Male lead is a stand-in + groveling chase + both leads are chaste]

A sweet-faced schemer + an arrogant, proud man (proud and deluded at first, then completely humbled)

“Brother Chi, Su Yi treats you so well. You should keep her close, or someone else might steal her away.” At the gathering, Su Yi looked at Shen Chi with such intense affection that it practically spilled from her eyes. He was the only one she saw. Everyone was used to it by now, so when Su Yi went to the restroom, someone teased Shen Chi.

Shen Chi only chuckled. “Steal her away? Who'd dare? Besides, Yi Yi can't live without me.”

Not long after, Shen Chi discovered that his sweet girl seemed to have had a childhood sweetheart and first love before him. Young and carefree, instead of focusing on her studies, she'd been dating? It left him feeling resentful. He planned to ignore her for a few days so she'd have to make it up to him, but all he got was a breakup!

He was certain she'd regret it and come back to him. After all, she loved him so much. How could she possibly bear to leave? It was only natural for his sweet girl to get a little moody after he'd ignored her for a few days. Once she came back, he would give her an easy way to apologize.

When everything came to light, Shen Chi found Su Yi and forcibly dragged her away from the banquet without a care for anyone watching. Eyes red, he cornered her against the wall. Her gaze at him was icy, and he rasped, “You've been by my side for two years. Why are you leaving? Have you grown tired of me as your stand-in? Or has the real one come back? So you don't need me anymore?” His voice trembled as he said the last few words.

No one could have imagined that the mighty Shen Chi would say something like that. “Yi Yi, can I call you that too? I'll learn to be just like him. Just don't leave me.”
