In 1931, a grand wedding was held in Ningbo.
Ye Shuanghan was only out enjoying the festivities when she somehow got caught up in a murder case.
An ancient bridal sedan, an ancient sword, an ancient method: someone used them to kill a modern-day person, yet the police stopped investigating.
Are the two outsiders who were inexplicably drawn into the case pawns, or the ones moving the pieces?
Ningbo has three great families: the Ye, Mo, and Jiang. The victim was the Ye family's legitimate daughter, but she was also the Mo family's bride. The investigators are the Ye family's illegitimate daughter and the Mo family's sickly young son, who is said to be near death. But word has it that someone from the Jiang family is the one waiting to reap the rewards?
What a mess, an absolute mess!
The Ningbo Ye family has a young daughter named Ye Shuanghan.
The Beiping Ye family also has a young daughter named Ye Linghan.
Ye Linghan is over a hundred years old, while Ye Shuanghan is only twenty.
Ye Linghan died once six years ago, and Ye Shuanghan died ten years ago.
Mo Mantang: “By the count of it, the Ningbo Ye family should be calling you their great-grandmother.”
Ye Shuanghan: “Get lost. You're the old one!”
I just started reading it, and it felt pretty good. It's a different kind of detective novel.
