The Distance of Sin

This novel is part of a mystery series. After finishing the college entrance exam, protagonist Li Sihang visited his girlfriend’s home to meet her parents for the first time. A murder took place in the house. He was knocked unconscious by a blow to the head and suffered a mild concussion, while everyone in his girlfriend’s family was killed. Afterward, he applied to join the police and eventually became a criminal investigator. He hoped that his efforts would help his girlfriend rest in peace sooner, but losing his first love also left him too afraid to love again. His troubles in love even held back his career advancement. Fate may seem elusive, but when the time is right, it comes of its own accord. After being injured on the job, the protagonist found love with the heroine, Lin Chen, whose English name is Keisen, and she became his girlfriend in the first installment.

The first installment mainly follows Li Sihang’s progress toward becoming a key criminal investigator. By solving major cases, he grows into a true expert at cracking crimes. There is little about his deceased girlfriend, Li Xiaobei. Instead, the story focuses on solving organized crime cases across the city and bringing down a series of criminal organizations protected by corrupt officials, marking the first major breakthrough in the protagonist’s career.
