During the Ming Dynasty, a young farmer named Zhang Youwen was just fifteen, yet he had lofty ambitions. Unwilling to spend his whole life as a farmer, he longed to make something of himself. But his family was poor, and his parents couldn't afford to send him to school to pursue an official career. He wanted to apprentice himself to a doctor, but had no connections. After making inquiries, he learned that an old immortal with superb medical skills lived on nearby Baiyun Mountain and often treated the people for free. Thus began Zhang Youwen's journey to seek out the master and learn medicine.
