In 1931, Shen Baizhi was eighteen years old and Jiang Yanxing was twenty-three. Shen Baizhi and Jiang Yanxing met. In that war-torn era, the troubled times could not tolerate the love of two people. Shen Baizhi left for England while Jiang Yanxing stayed in Yanjing.
Six years later, Shen Baizhi was twenty-four years old and Jiang Yanxing was twenty-nine. Shen Baizhi returned to China after completing her studies. Yanjing fell, and the two embarked on the road to move south to Kunming.
In 1945, Shen Baizhi was thirty-two years old and Jiang Yanxing was thirty-seven. Japan was defeated and the two returned to Yanjing. They revisited their old places. In the heavy snow of Wuxiang Temple, they seemed to have grown old together.
