The former Soviet Union Russian writer Gorky (1868-1936) was originally named Alexei. Maximovich.
Pishkov was born in an ordinary carpenter family. He lost his father when he was young and spent his childhood in the house of his grandfather, a small business owner. He entered the society at the age of eleven, made a living on his own, and experienced the bitterness of the world. Later, he accepted the influence of intellectuals with populist views, participated in secret revolutionary activities, and was once arrested.
Gorky entered the literary world as a romantic writer and began to publish works in 1892. The images created in his early works such as "Makar Chudela", "Old Lady Izegil", and "Song of the Eagle" are full of the desire to fight and the dedication of "illuminating the way forward for people with his own burning heart" and the fearless spirit of pursuing light and facing death. Gorky believed that literature and art should have the social mission of transforming reality. He wrote realist short stories to describe the suffering life of the people at the bottom under the dark and corrupt tsarist autocratic rule, to expose the cruel exploitation and empty soul of the bourgeoisie that had just begun to develop, to criticize the philistine intellectuals with low moral character, and to think hard about the path of life.

This book reminded me of my own childhood, where life was hard but also full of hope. The characters in Gorky's works are very vivid, and I was deeply moved by their tenacity and optimism. As the book says: "The more difficult the life situation, the stronger I feel, and even smarter." I have also become stronger and braver in the trials of life. This is a book worth reading, it will make you appreciate your current life more.
