Due to a disability in his arm, Dionisio Binzon can only earn a living by doing manual labor as a "caller" in the village. At a temple fair, he rescued a dying golden rooster and took good care of it, but his mother died of overwork. Being poor and destitute, he pinned his fate on the rooster and decided to go out alone.
The golden rooster repeatedly won in subsequent cockfights, unexpectedly giving him the courage to live. Traveling all over the country, Bin Song met a "capon girl". Wherever she was, he was invincible. Just when he thought things were going smoothly, fate had its own plans...

After reading several of Rulfo's works, the overall feeling is that time, space, and structure can be changed at will according to the author's own ideas. It is a bit difficult to read, and it is very different from the narrative method of ordinary writers. He always uses small stories to paint a larger narrative.
A novella, a letter, a poem, 12 short stories, each one is wonderful. Borges's ring-shaped ruins were also inspired by the golden rooster, and the ring structure symbolizes his interpretation of reality. The concise text, poetic language, and open ending allow everyone to have different understandings with different experiences.
