Lu Zhu is a second-year graduate student in history and a freelance online writer. Her childhood friend tricks her into becoming a screenwriter, and she accidentally fulfills one of her biggest dreams as a fan: seeing her idol act in a story she wrote.
Later, an older student at her university tricks her into filling in at the last minute for a dating show, and she accidentally reaches another major milestone in life.
When asked in an interview what it’s like to date a celebrity, Lu Zhu replies, “It means I’m no longer single.”
Lu Xingye is a little-known actor who has spent seven years in the business without making much of a splash. By chance, a genius director takes a liking to him, and he lands a role he’ll never forget.
Then, by chance, audiences fall in love with him...
Then, by chance, he wins the Best Supporting Actor award at the Golden Horse Awards, the entertainment industry’s highest honor...
From then on, his career takes off, just as his assistant, Xiao Kong, puts it: he becomes dazzlingly famous.
“The world isn’t full of coincidences. What you think is chance is really the result of my carefully laid plans, one step at a time.”
One unforgettable glimpse at eighteen leads to five years of pursuit.
