(Political intrigue + quirky heroine + icy prince + extraordinary female supporting character + unhinged male supporting character)
Su Luo, the second daughter of the Su family, was born of low status and lived in the Su household, where she was beaten and abused at will and had no decent clothes to wear.
After a serious illness, the second daughter of the Su family changed completely overnight. The Empress had no children of her own, so she joined forces with Qin Bojing to help him seize the throne. The Empress, who had always been hostile toward Qin Yexuan, unexpectedly showed kindness and persuaded the Emperor to betroth Su Luo to him. Qin Yexuan suspected that Su Luo had an ulterior motive for marrying into his household, but her courage and resolve dispelled his doubts. As they spent time together, they fell in love.
However, poisoned and gravely ill, Su Luo had no choice but to let others use her to steal a military command token and pass along intelligence.
