Huo Suizhou, the governor's son, is in love with his sworn brother's wife. To hide the person he truly loves, he marries her younger sister, Fu Nian, and treats her as a substitute. When Fu Nian loved him, he took her for granted. Only after she left did Huo Suizhou realize that she had taken his whole world with her. Fu Nian was born unwanted and had little schooling, but she understood the words: “If you no longer love me, then I will leave.”
