Until one day, he learned a secret, one that would cost him his life.
For all these years, the gods had never passed on their positions or reincarnated. They had clung to their lofty seats and refused to budge.
And yet, the people they chose as successors looked exactly as they should, and their lifespans had been correctly recorded.
The Great Emperor of Fengdu waited patiently, watching with his own eyes as those sanctimonious gods reached out, tore the hearts from their successors, and devoured them greedily. They skinned them, consumed their souls, and became someone else...
The Great Emperor of Fengdu tried to use the laws of Heaven and Earth recorded in the Book of Life and Death to bring the gods to justice. But he was betrayed and nearly had his soul scattered by their schemes.
The Book of Life and Death and the ghosts of the Underworld sacrificed themselves to save their master, hoping to revive the Great Emperor of Fengdu. Instead, they fell into the gods’ trap. The gods declared him guilty and sent the last fragment of his soul into reincarnation. The ghosts, too, fell into a deep slumber.
In his final lifetime, the Great Emperor of Fengdu is reborn as Yin Changqing. He endures countless trials and tribulations, all for the ultimate battle that awaits.
