Those Mountains, Those Clouds

In the 1990s, a poor young man graduates from a teachers’ college in the provincial capital and returns to his hometown. Desperate to save his father, he offends a local official and is assigned to teach in the county’s only remote village without road access. He then faces repeated retaliation and is framed. Eventually, he leaves teaching to go into business. Seizing the opportunities of the times, he leads his fellow villagers out of poverty and into prosperity, while also weathering the trials of love, and ultimately makes a triumphant comeback.
