Where did this dragon come from? We must first understand that Chinese culture is the culture of dragons. Since the time of the Yellow Emperor, the political system has been divided into officials, with dragon as the official name, such as Dragon Master and Dragon Emperor, both represented by dragon. The dragon is the greatest symbol of Chinese culture and has been our flag for thousands of years. Chinese culture always uses the dragon as a symbol for those great, auspicious and worshipful phenomena.
Westerners, especially the British, over the past few hundred years, a lot of information shows that there are many precautions and disadvantages for us Chinese. They have always been psychologically afraid of China. There is a sect of Christianity who will be afraid of dragons when they see or hear them. They say that the Bible says that dragons are devils, and secondly, they mistake dinosaurs, these ancient giant creatures, for the dragons in the Chinese Book of Changes. These concepts are all wrong.
We Chinese must understand clearly that our dragon culture, first of all, is not the dragon mentioned in the Christian Bible, nor is it the devil. Our dragon is worshiped by gods and humans and represents God in religious concepts. Second, to be honest, no one has ever seen our Chinese dragons. Needless to say, it is wrong for them to regard the bones dug up from the ground as dragon bones.
Chinese dragons are not only three-dwelling, but even four-dwelling. They can swim in water, walk on land, and fly in the air. When dragons change greatly, they can fill the universe. When they are young, they are as invisible as hair. Sometimes they become human beings, sometimes they become immortals. What exactly is a dragon? It cannot have a fixed specific image.
In fact, the dragon in Chinese culture is just eight words: "changeable and unpredictable." If you learn Chinese culture, everyone can be like Zhuge Liang. If you look at foreign dinosaurs, you can see them all. If Chinese painters paint all the dragons, no matter what famous artist they are, they will be worthless. "The divine dragon can see its head but not its tail". The dragon has never been seen in its entirety. This is the meaning of "changeable and unpredictable".
Only when we understand the spirit of the dragon can we know where the spirit of our own culture lies. This is also a major principle of great politicians, philosophy, and culture. On the other hand, if we understand the eight words "changeable and unpredictable", we also understand the entire principle of the "Book of Changes". The "Book of Changes" tells us that everything in the world changes anytime and anywhere. There are no constant things, no constant people, and no constant things.
