Synopsis of The Life-Taking King's Seal
In the autumn of 1944, Japan's war of aggression against China was showing signs of defeat. In a desperate last-ditch effort, the Japanese launched a long-planned campaign to plunder China's wealth, targeting national treasures and antiques. To steal the thousand-year-old jade seal of the Miao King, a symbol of the Miao people's spirit, history, and soul, they organized an operation led by Reiko Xiaohe, a Japanese intelligence officer with the rank of lieutenant colonel.
To protect this national treasure, a special operations team of the Chinese Communist Party's underground network joined forces with an action group from the Kuomintang's military intelligence agency and members of the Miao, Bouyei, Shui, and Yao peoples. Together, they matched wits with the Japanese looters and ultimately recovered the Miao King's Seal, saving the thousand-year-old relic. With its twists and turns and vividly drawn characters, this is a patriotic novel that celebrates the Party.
The novel has a wonderful plot and is highly readable.
