Wang Shaolong lowered his head and looked at his hands. His right hand, once used to wield a sword, was now tracing irregular lines across his textbook. He closed his eyes, trying to recall the moment he transmigrated, to that world of crumbling earth and monsters. He took a deep breath, trying to calm his excitement. Yet an inexplicable atmosphere seemed to hang in the air, leaving him feeling stifled and agitated. He gazed out the window. The sky, once so familiar, now seemed veiled in a dim haze. He felt lonelier and more lost than ever, even as he congratulated himself on having transmigrated back to school.
"Wang Shaolong, what are you doing?" Teacher Zhao suddenly called out, her tone stern.
Teacher Zhao set down her lesson plan and stopped teaching, fixing her gaze on Wang Shaolong. Her eyes held anger, along with something strange that made him feel uneasy and guilty.
"Pay attention in class. Come to my office after class!" As soon as she finished speaking, Teacher Zhao's expression quickly softened into a kind smile.
Wang Shaolong suddenly felt dazed. When he raised his head and looked toward the lectern, Teacher Zhao was still speaking, but her words came faster and faster, taking on an increasingly unusual urgency. Her voice grew indistinct until he could no longer make out what she was saying. Wang Shaolong's thoughts became confused, and he couldn't hear her clearly at all.
