Chronicles of Jie Nian

Everyone knows that thoughts are born in the heart: greed, anger, delusion, resentment, loathing, and unfulfilled desire... all are thoughts. But few know that thoughts can take the form of insects. On Mount Canglu, there is a beast called Huihui that feeds on thought-insects. Buwang is a Huihui beast. She remembers that she came from Mount Canglu, but has forgotten everything about the place, even how to return. When she woke, there was only a kitten beside her. She named it Niannian. At some point, Niannian learned to speak. Buwang believes that if she keeps unraveling thoughts through cultivation, she will recover her memories.
