Bao Zheng, courtesy name Wenzheng, passed the imperial examinations in 1027 and entered government service. Upright and incorruptible, he feared no powerful officials and championed the people. He judged cases by day and the dead by night, earning the name Lord Bao, and was also known as Bao Qingtian.
