Who Says a Cannon Fodder Can’t Be the Protagonist?

Shen Yuan'an dreams that she is the cannon-fodder character in a novel.

The original male lead thinks she bullied the woman he loves. To avenge her, he repeatedly crushes Shen Yuan'an, who once inadvertently hurt the female lead, until she dies a miserable death. Her family meets a terrible end as well.

After experiencing even stranger things, Shen Yuan'an feels uneasy. Though she has no plans to go to school, she decides to take a look.

She walks into the classroom, puts her head down on her desk, and falls asleep. When she wakes up, a transfer student is sitting beside her.

That face belongs to one of the main characters from her dream: Xu Zhihua.

With the idea of helping someone in need and striking first, Shen Yuan'an steps in to help the female lead once. From that moment on, their fates become entangled, and as she had hoped, the male and female leads have nothing to do with each other.

Shen Yuan'an also completely changes the fate of her family. Everyone she loves finds a place of their own, but the fate shared by her and Xu Zhihua remains impossible to change.

The butterfly effect takes hold, and the world grows increasingly strange.

Strange people and strange paintings unsettle them both, but their lives keep them from paying it much attention.

Then one day, while out for fun, the two discover that all their bodyguards have vanished. A black car is tailing them relentlessly. Faced with the choice of crashing into someone else or turning off the road and plunging down a cliff, Shen Yuan'an chooses the latter.

In a moment of mortal danger, Xu Zhihua jumps from the car and rolls toward the cliff, while Shen Yuan'an, behind the wheel, plunges into the valley with the car.

Five years later, they meet again.

Shen Yuan'an happily throws her arms around Xu Zhihua.

“Zhihua, it's been so long!”

But Xu Zhihua coldly pushes her away.

“I am Countess Adelaide Huabuo.”

The magnificent castle is consumed by flames.

“An'an, I've come to be with you.”

The two whose lives have been full of hardships will meet again at last.
